Is taking vacation really a stress reliever? Many people want to take a vacation to get away from the stress, but in the initial blog, everything you have to do sounds like stress. One thing a family, couple, or person in general can do is plan. Many parents feel pressured when their students are out of school for the summer, because that is the time to take your family vacation. If co-workers ask you where your vacation is this year and you haven't planned it, it may start to stress you out. There are many tips online, on how to plan a vacation stress free so if you are up in the air about everything, look at the world wide web and find some helpful tips. One major tip that people need to remember is to decide what kind of vacation they want to take, and that alone will prevent a lot of stress. Do you want it to be close to home, far away, an adventurous vacation, a relaxing vacation, or a vacation that will have activities for your kids as well as you? Once you have your initial building block for your vacation you can start adding things(keeping your budget in mind) and hopefully everything will stay on track. If you plan out your budget a year or so in advance, you have the entire year to build your savings back up, therefore that would prevent stress before and after your trip. As a side note the number one spot to vacation when you have had a stressful year is to an island or a beach so keep that in mind for the future when planning a vacation.

Tips on planning a stress free vacation:
In general, a budget is a great thing to live by. It keeps a person's style of living in check. I started a budget the day I got my first job. Some peoples' minds don't work like mine. They live simply for the moment, don't plan and spend money left and right. What do you tell to the person who will go on vacation and come back $1,000 in debt due to extra activities on that vacation? The vacation has now added a lot more stress. Where a person chooses to vacation should be based on budget, but I think a lot of it stems from where friends or co-workers have gone on vacation. Who wants to go to Lake Michigan on vacation when their friends just got back from Hawaii? The need to impress goes into vacation planning, even though it shouldn't. Vacations should be all about relaxing and spending time with those you love.
ReplyDeleteBudgeting is a huge part of planning a vacation. For the first time I am planning my own vacation, and there is a lot to think about. I chose to go through a travel agent who puts me on a budget. She gives you the price, tells you how much you need to pay every month for the vacation to be completely paid for and gives you a list of activities that you might want to do and how much they cost. This is nice because my husband and I want to go on a day trip outside of the resort we're going to in Mexico and it's nice to know we will have save an extra whatever the cost is to be able to go and do that. While a travel agent cost a little bit of extra money it's nice to have her do most of the work, so I don't have to stress about it...I just have to pay her to do it. :)
ReplyDeleteThis post hits the nail on the head. There is so much planning when it comes to vacationing. My boyfriend and I are planning a trip right now to Maine in August to visit his family, and it is really starting to stress me out. Right now, we can't even decide whether to drive or to fly. The budget is a huge issue and we're trying to figure out what mode of transportation will be the best. If anyone has any suggestions on which mode of transportation to take please feel free to chime in. Another thing that keeps coming up are the dates to go. We can not for the life of us figure out when to go. It's so stressful to plan this trip because we need to do it enough in advance to get plane tickets(if we choose to go that route), figure out what we need to bring, make sure there are no prior events on the dates we will eventually choose, and figure out who else in his family is going. HELP!
ReplyDeleteI never thought of vacation as being stressful. As a kid, I could never wait to get to where we were going to. Now, bing in college and having to pay for most of my things, vacationing seems more of a bother to get ready to go on instead of a joy. There is so much planning before hand and then once you get to your destination I feel like all I would do is worry about what needs to be taken care of back home. If you properly go about preparing for vacation and not wait til the last minute, then I think it may be less stressful, but only when you are on it.
